An out-of-the-box-idea-generator for creatives.
SCOPE was designed for creative students to help them learn about the concepts of Context, Impact, and Value in relation to their own creative practice. This tool is part of a more extensive game by Playspace and the Willem de Kooning Academy Business Station called Total View. As an intern at Playspace, I developed this piece of the game.
Developing a good understanding of these concepts early in their study will help students create more meaningful and commercially-viable work, leaving the Academy with better chances at a creative career.
I designed this tool as a playful way to explore these terms. After testing it with students, I discovered it is also very successful as a creative concept generator for any creative. It works by taking an initial idea and “remixing” it through a guided format. I used the fill-in-the-blank-sentence mechanic from Madlibs as the structure and combined it with the challenge of using one aspect of the previous idea as the spark for the next idea.
